Photos: STILL LIFE SOUNDS (Everett, MA) – 2023/08/05

STILL LIFE SOUNDS was officially formed in 2021 by guitarists Julian Cardazone and Sam Hess who met through much heavier music several years prior, with drummer Dan Hartel and bassist Pete Stroczkowski joining soon thereafter.  With their original plan of having a female vocalist proving rather difficult in a diminished slowcore scene, the band pushed forward with Sam providing vocals for their initial EP offering, Blends the Light.

After several months of playing these songs live, Pete had to retire from bass duties to focus more heavily on his other band, Intercourse. This ignited the band’s makeover – find a new bassist, a female vocal lead which they originally envisioned, and to morph their sound to accompany these additions. The band would recruit Chris Peter to fill bass duties and though a traditional classical cellist Camille Toubol Fernandez would take over vocal duties – Somergloom being her debut singing performance as well as the first show for the band with this new incarnation and their newly developed sound.

STILL LIFE SOUNDS are busy writing material that will not only comprise a full-length record but also additional tracks to accompany planned splits and collaborations. This new iteration of the band will continue to leave the “heavier” sound in the past and chase a more ethereal and dreamy side of shoegaze, heavily spotlighting their new vocalist.

UPDATE (2023/10/08): Camille is no longer part of STILL LIFE SOUNDS. Per their request, not of the band, photos of them have been removed.
