MR. BUNGLE is an experimental rock band, named after a character in a1960s children’s educational film “Beginning Responsibility: Lunchroom Manners” which was featured in the 1981 HBO special The Pee-wee Herman Show. The band formed in 1985 in Humboldt County, California initially as a death metal band while members were still in high school. Since then the group has had several lineup changes throughout the band’s career, with vocalist Mike Patton, guitarist Trey Spruance, and bassist Trevor Dunn being the consistent members. Currently, Dave Lombardo (Slayer) and Scott Ian (Anthrax) fill out the group.

After three albums, the band would enter a “hibernation” in 2000, playing what would be their last show that September as the members went mostly separate ways to concentrate on their other musical endeavors. It wouldn’t be until 2020 that MR. BUNGLE would reunite, playing seven shows in three cities, Los Angeles, San Francisco and Brooklyn, right before the COVID outbreak. The original trio of Dunn, Patton, and Spruance paired with Ian and Lombardo would re-record the band’s first self-released demo tape, The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny, from 1986 for a proper release, which was released in late 2020. It wouldn’t be until 2023 that this incarnation of the band would perform live.
