The Melvins, continuing their 40th-anniversary celebrations, have announced the “Twins of Evil Tour,” a seven-week trek that sees the Los Angeles-by-way-of-Washington band joined by Japanese trio BORIS, with both groups performing classic albums in their entirety with Melvins taking Bullhead (1991 – Boner Records) and BORIS with and Heavy Rocks (2002 – Quattro). This coincides with the re-release of Heavy Rocks, and the first time available on vinyl via Third Man Records.

Formed in 1992 in Tokyo the band got their name after the Melvins song on the Bullhead album. Taking inspiration from an array of genres, BORIS have been pushing the boundaries of heavy and experimental music for over 30 years incorporating elements of sludge, shoegaze, psychedelic rock, doom, and ambient soundscapes.

With nearly 30 full-length albums, BORIS is a powerhouse of creativity constantly releasing music. They released three albums alone in 2022 (W, Heavy Rocks, and Fade) and then a collaborative album with Uniform in 2023. Splits and collaborative albums are frequent offerings by BORIS, often collab-ing with fellow Japanese artist Merzbow and also including the likes of Sunn O))), Doomriders, Ian Astbury (vocalist of The Cult), and many others.
