Symphonic black metal haunters CARACH ANGREN formed in the Netherlands in 2003. Specializing in horror-instilled metal featuring orchestral arrangements, crushing guitar riffs, and crowling vocals, they are known for putting more sinister and modern takes based on fairy tales, folklore, and ghost stories – such as Hansel and Gretel and the Flying Dutchman.

In 2020, CARACH ANGREN released their sixth full-length album, Franckensteina Strataemontanus, via Season of Mist Records. The concept for this album was inspired by Johann Konrad Dippel, a late 17th-century/early 18th-century German occultist who conducted controversial experiments with corpses. This allegedly inspired Mary Shelley to write her infamous gothic novel Frankenstein.
