Right behind the release of their fifth album, Everything Is Alive (2023 – Dead Oceans), England’s SLOWDIVE captivated a near-soldout audience. It’s been six years since the release of their self-titled offering since reforming in 2014 – Slowdive (2017 – Dead Oceans) being their first album in 22 years, following Pygmalion (1995 – Creation Records).

As a result of COVID-19, the band had to push back studio time for several months with the first sessions taking place in September 2020. To make matters worse, both Simon Scott‘s father and Rachel Goswell‘s mother had passed away during the pandemic. The forced isolation and with darkness engulfing everyone, the band found themselves discussing doing another album, choosing to seek an escape through music.

SLOWDIVE is Neil Halstead (vocals, guitar, keyboards), Rachel Goswell (vocals, guitar, keyboards, tambourine), Nick Chaplin (bass), Christian Savill (guitar), and Simon Scott (drums), all of whom have played on the band’s debut studio album Just for a Day (1991 – Creation Records).
