Photos: THE RED CHORD (Philadelphia, PA) – 2022/06/11 – Decibel Fest

One of the highlight performances from Decibel Magazine’s Metal & Beer Festival was the return to stage of Massachusetts heavyweights, THE RED CHORD. They would play Clients in entirety.

Back in 2005, when Clients was released, I was twenty years old. Having graduated from nu-metal, I found myself venturing into metalcore and death metal and becoming more engaged with the local scene. Little did I know that the Boston area that I called home, was (is) a breeding ground for phenomenal bands. My friends and I were constantly going to shows to see Shadows Fall, Killswitch Engage, Unearth, and The Acacia Strain. But none were as savagely fierce and devastating as THE RED CHORD. I wish I carried a camera back then.

Fast forward to present day, their sophomore album was recently inducted into Decibel Magazine‘s Hall of Fame and the band would reunite to perform the record in full. The set was intense as if thousands of cherry bombs, M80s, and firecrackers were ignited all at once. Remember that scene in Raiders of the Lost Ark where the dude’s face melts at the end? It was like that.

In part of the festival, the death metal titans collaborated with Everett, MA’s very own Bone Up Brewing for a red ale, “Fixation on Red Ale,” a twist on an old-school classic with a dry-hopping of Belma hops.

Did anyone catch the the Duckhunter clip that played for a few seconds?
