Premiere: LOS BUNGALITOS Final Show (2018/09/23)

Merrimack Valley’s fifteen-year mainstay bilingual fast-hardcore quintet LOS BUNGALITOS played their final show in 2018 at UnchARTed Galleries of Lowell, MA. The band had just released their quintessential album, Nueva Inglaterra, on Constant Disappointment Records, and were returning from a US Northeast and Canadian tour in support of the album.

Nueva Inglaterra is art inspired by revolution. It is dedicated to the memory of the countless souls throughout history who were brutalized by the evils of colonization and the twin myths of capitalism and religion. It is a fantasy of an alternate past, a snapshot of a turbulent present, and a compass for a more humane future.

This homecoming show was announced to friends as the last chance to see the band. LOS BUNGALITOS formed in Lowell, Massachusetts in 2003 and to celebrate the band’s 20th anniversary, LOS B is happy to finally present this documentary as the most definitive recording of their live show ever released. Bassist Joe MacFadzen elaborates:

Los Bungalitos is five friends who met in college, started a band as a joke, and ended up keeping it going for fifteen years. It became a huge part of all of our lives. We worked really hard. We had a ton of adventures, wrote some wild music, and made lifelong friends along the way. During the last few years of us playing, however, we realized that our lives were beginning to pull in different directions. We knew in our guts that if we ever wanted to release the definitive Los B album, that the time was then or never. So that’s exactly what we set out to do, and we gave that album, Nueva Inglaterra, everything we had. By the time the album was out, and the tour was over, we were confident that we had brought the band as far as we could. Anyone who watches through to the end of the video will see the bond that Los B created with each other over all those years, and will know that we will always live by the band’s motto and iconic lyric from the first song we ever wrote – “FRIENDS! FOR! LIFE!”

This video is from the last show LOS BUNGALITOS ever played, an extremely emotional event for each member of the band, and their friends who packed the venue and crowded the stage in celebration of the band’s career. A friend of the band and original bassist Dan Bennett was there to film the show, and he understood the moment. The footage serves as a meaningful time capsule of an important time in the lives of all members.

The final performance was filmed by Dan Bennett, and edited by Joe MacFadzen with audio post-production handled by Kyle Paradis. Vinyl copies and digital downloading of Nueva Inglaterra can be found via Constant Disappointment Records here.
