After a near four-year absence, Finnish folk metallers ENSIFERUM will make their way to North American shores this weekend on a month-long headlining tour with SEPTICFLESH and ARSIS. The trek will commence on January 5th in Baltimore, Maryland and run through January 29th in Tampa, Florida. Photos from the January 7th Boston, MA date at Brighton Music Hall can be viewed below!

You can’t talk about the true greats of folk-inspired melodic death metal without reverent mention of ENSIFERUM, and with their latest album, Two Paths, they once more affirm their place in the pantheons of the genre. Further building upon the thrilling metallic hybrid honed across six full-lengths, Two Paths (released September 2017 via Metal Blade Records) is the quintet’s most epic and far-reaching collection of songs to date as well as their most organic.

SEPTICFLESH are painting an apocalyptic vision and make full use of their impressive musical palette consisting of death metal and orchestral colours. From their alpha EP Temple of the Lost Race that was released one year after their founding in 1990, the Greek musicians have pushed the limits of the metal genre and continued to explore new sonic path with every following release from their debut album Mystic Places of Dawn (1994 – Holy Records) to the stunning Sumerian Daemons (2003 – Hammerheart Records), to their tenth and most recent offering, Codex Omega (2017 – Season of Mist).

ARSIS shines as a standout in the technical, melodic death metal genre. The quartet derived its name from the musical term “arsis and thesis”, in which “arsis” refers to the unaccented part of a measure. ARSIS makes death metal that is righteously tinged with black & thrash influences, but is completely dedicated to expanding the reaches of melodicism and technicality in the genre. Visitant, the band’s sixth studio album, offers a glimpse at a band in its peak form. The band’s first new album in five years, Visitant was just released this past November through Agonia Records (Europe / Rest of the world) and Nuclear Blast Records (North / South / Central America).
