The longest-running annual heavy metal tour in North America, The Decibel Magazine Tour returns for the 13th installment, this time featuring Montréal heavyweights CRYPTOPSY as they celebrate the 30th anniversary of their landmark album None So Vile (1996 – Wrong Again Records). The tour kicks off at an absolutely packed-out Palladium Upstairs in Worcester, MA.
To add even more death metal to the bill, NECROT will be in direct support with deathgrinders in BLOOD MONOLITH opening things up. Italy’s brutal horrorfiers FULCI experienced visa issues and had to drop from the tour. In a twist of events, SPIRIT ADRIFT, who had broken up in March, decided to have one more go around to go out in style.

Forming just a couple of years ago by Shelby Lermo (Ulthar, ex-Vastum, Human Corpse Abuse) and guitarist Tommy Wall (Undeath, Tomb Warden ), the Washington, D.C.-based grindy death merchants have been carving out a name for themselves. After solidifying their lineup by recruiting bassist Nolan (Genocide Pact) and drummer Nadia Tydings-Lynch (Goetia, Deliriant Nerve), the band got straight to work. Their debut offering would come in the form of a full-length album, The Calling of Fire, released through Profound Lore Records.

Though the band had already announced they were ending in March, despite having a forthcoming album due to be released, the band decided to have one more go-around before hanging up the towel – stepping in to replace Fulci. The Texas heavy-doomers would posthumously release their sixth and final album, Infinite Illumination, through 20 Buck Spin in May.

Bay Area death metal mutants NECROT, after three albums with Tankcrimes, are starting a new chapter, having recently signed with Metal Blade Records. The trio has already been working on new music however, no new songs were played. Their setlist spanned all three full-lengths, mostly 2024’s Lifeless Birth, and “Into the Labyrinth,” which was initially released as part of a demo released in 2012 also appeared part of Decibel Magazine‘s Flexi Series (2020 – Issue #190). During the set, guitarist Sonny Reinhardt would lose sound during “Rebirth in Chaos” due to a crowd surfer crashing onto his pedalboard.
