Review: THY WILL BE DONE – ‘Temple’ (Eye.On Lion Recordings)

Thy Will Be Done - Temple - album cover artTHY WILL BE DONE has matured since their last release, 2009′s In Ancient of Days, and you can hear it throughout their latest offering Temple.  It’s still THY WILL BE DONE just steps outside a bit here and there from their previous material, all while still packing in groove and momentum into their tunes.  I’ve been looking forward to this release for quite sometime and you know what they say… The longer you wait for something, the more pleasurable it will be.  An Temple pleasured me something good.

In The Ways Of The Old” is the second song on the track and the  first to throw me around, figuratively speaking that is.  Reminded me a bit of Pantera with the guitar squeals, and how the song bounces from fast paced aggression to a slower groove.  The song also boats a most excellent solo from guitarist Chris Drapeau.

You The Apathy Divine” is quite the head bopper and can see this being a mohspit favorite. The bands structure work has improved with their songs as well, this song being a great example.  I absolutely love the beginning of the song, how it builds up and leads you right into the song.  The breakdown is perfect, stretched out a bit, but keeps moving, making you ache for the resolve.  Drummer Jay Waterman definitely has some feet in this diddy, definitely giving it the extra kick (pun intended) to put it over the edge.

J Costa‘s voice is as powerful as ever and further adds to me being reminded of Pantera.  If only the EP had a couple more tracks to make it a full length, hopefully it will not be another three year wait for another album.  Regardless, Temple will kick your head in, so put your helmet on.  This EP proves that THY WILL BE DONE will rise to the ranks of Trivium and Lamb of God, right where they should be.

RATING: 8 / 10
