From Massachusetts, HIVESMASHER represent “a giant middle finger waved in the world’s general direction”, in the band’s own words. An all-out destructive force, rooted in grindcore but freely veering off into hardcore, death metal, or thrash at will, HIVESMASHER proudly revel in a distinctly “New England” brand of bad vibes. (One of the most visible, hardworking bands in the Northeast today, HIVESMASHER are, despite their misanthropic boasts, proof that the altruistic DIY ethic is alive and well in the underground.)
A true-to-life depiction of HIVESMASHER ’s technical yet raw sound, Gutter Choir was recorded entirely in “living rooms, closets, and basements” and is devoid of studio trickery. The album contains guest vocals from The Red Chord frontman and Black Market Activities boss Guy Kozowyk, as well as Fit For an Autopsy/Premonitions of War vocalist Nate Johnson along with Eric Taranto of Dysentery and Jake Burns of Pathogenic.
HIVESMASHER will release their new album, Gutter Choir, on October 23rd via Black Market Activities.
Of “En Route to Meat Land”, frontman Aaron Heinold says:
“The song is about a past friend of ours who couldn’t cope with the fact that he didn’t get everything he wanted in life. Thusly he decided that everyone around him was the cause of his own inability to make the changes needed to find happiness. This resulted in constant threats of violence toward the people he knew and toward himself. The only instances where he actually fulfilled his threats were toward people who would never stand up to him. The song is about his expulsion from everything he knew and loved, simply because his cowardice consumed everything we loved about him.”
To prepare you for its release, LambGoat has been given the go-ahead to premiere a song from the effort titled “En Route To Meat Land.”
