Review: BIRDS IN ROW – ‘You, Me & The Violence’ (Deathwish Inc.)

Birds In Row - You Me The Violence - album cover artFlooding with emotion and gritty distortion, You, Me & The Violence is raw and powerful.  Scornful of society, battered by faults, scarred by misdeeds, yet holding true to ones self.  The album is fierce, and hits you hard right off the bat with “Pilori” and continues this way until “Last Last Chance” which hits the brakes on this speeding onslaught and simmers down to a mellow guitar and vocal ballad so to speak.   This break in the album leads into the title track, “You, Me & The Violence“, which is the most powerful song on the album.  The emotion… the love, the grief, the anger, the despondency… you can hear everything coming out of him as he bellows.   This song captivated me.  Another song worth mentioning is the ending track, “Lovers Have Their Say”, a doomful piece that takes you on a journey, their tone and musicianship is astonishing here. Though for the most part You, Me & The Violence is a fury, yet it instills a sense of beauty.  Well crafted, intense, honest.  Solid melodic shoegazing hardcore, highly recommended.
