Thought Factor: I Give Many Fucks

You know why things keep getting worse? Because culture and society is getting worse. How willing are you to help a stranger, how about your friend? The generations before us set the way and we are making it worse by this “no fucks given” movement, if that even is a movement. It’s know dubbed cool to hate, to put down. But the attitude to not care about anything or anyone? That will come back right to you. I don’t believe in karma, but if enough people have this awful attitude, you’re going to be down on your luck and all you’re going to get in return is some ecard saying how they don’t care. Some pretty big bands out there encourage this, and it’s unfortunate. Younger audiences are eating it up. And to say “I give no fucks” about whatever it is, you obviously do, otherwise you wouldn’t give it a thought to voice how you don’t care. This attitude conveys a message to walk away from problems instead of bucking up and handling it. We all encounter tough moments, hard times, trials and tribulations, we all have our vices, our beliefs, but having a careless attitude is not going to help you one bit. Shit happens, man-up and handle as best you can.

It’s all bark and no bite. By showing you don’t care and acting tough about it, nobody is going to help. That’s if they care and not also “give no fucks.” Change your selfish attitude to caring about circumstances, people, ideas, opinions, whatever it may be and it will broaden your horizon. To put it bluntly, you look arrogant, naive, and an outright asshole boasting this “fuck it all” attitude. You’d be surprised how many good people are out there if you actually look and stop being a jerk.

Why use time and energy hating one something? This genre isn’t trve. This band sucks, that band sucks. I don’t like this video because of ____. This band sold out cause they did that. Who cares. If you don’t have anything nice to say, why say anything at all. It’s their art, their lives.  They don’t owe you anything.  Why don’t you give constructive criticism? Why don’t you take that moment and spread word about something you do like instead of cutting down the art of others? Who are you to say anything? If you happen to be at a show and had the chance to make your blatant hate and disregard to a members face, would you? Probably not, why risk getting punched in the face or having them in turn cut you down, when you can be hard behind a keyboard. It marvels me when I actually read YouTube or Blabbermouth comments. It’s 85% bashing, hate, and arrogance, 10% some sort of positive or neutral comment, and 5% “\m/.”  What good is it doing?  It’s not doing anything except potentially upsetting someone or several that you don’t even know.

If more bands, more so the bigger bands that all the kids pay attention to, start speaking more in regards to love, caring, sympathy, I would say our future will be a lot brighter. After all today’s youth is tomorrow’s future. You say you don’t care, show that you don’t care… good luck getting a decent job or have people take you seriously. We as a society need to come together, help each other, otherwise times are going to get worse. Even just the littlest of things, in mass, is something big. Fear, anger, hate… is engulfing society, bringing on dark times. Yes I’m making a Star Wars reference. Perhaps it always has, put my time on this planet has not been as long as others, and simply making observation of the past several years.  If you changed your outlook and changed your lightsaber to green to cast strikes of positive energy, wonders can be made.

The next time you feel the need to say something negative, why not think of something you like and give a fuck about, and say/post/comment with that instead? You’ll spark greater conversations, and perhaps you’ll get what I’m talking about when that person leaves a comment cutting down, making fun of, or disrespecting what you have mentioned. Perhaps you can walk away knowing that you may have helped a band by spreading the word, perhaps your nice, positive comment makes someone’s day or gets someone thinking in a new light. There’s enough going on in this world that’s brings us down, why add to it?
