I’ve been looking forward to this album for so long and it is well worth the wait. Book Burner is like having sex with a toaster… Electrifying, dangerous, hurts a little bit, and most of all, sexually pleasing.
Right out of the gates “Sis“ bludgeons your ears with sharp guitars and punishing chaotic drumming. ”The Ameican’s Head” is next and compels you to stomp around in a frenzy for 49 seconds. “Eve,” one of my favorites, comes on track four, with a short build up to the song, explodes into drum and vocal disarray. “The Diplomat” is another solid song, that I can see being a favorite among many, and given it’s one of the longer songs on Book Burner (coming in just shy of the 3 minute mark), the diddy has a lot to offer.
Further down the line is “Baltimore Stranger” and this track is ridiculous. It has groove, it has devastation… The song is all over the place yet holds it all together. The musical writing and performance that these guys are capable of, though throughout the whole album and past, is highlighted in this song.
“Iron Drunk,” “Kamikaze Heart,” and “Permanent Funeral” are also stand out tracks that I really got into. I recommend clearing your schedule, starting from the beginning, and letting this album cripple your mind. Book Burner is armageddon in audio format and will surely be at the top of many year end lists.
