On May 23rd, THE DEVASTATED performed at the Yost Theater in Santa, Ana, CA on the last date of the Noise In The Machine Tour with FEAR FACTORY, SHADOWS FALL, THE BROWNING, and LEGACY OF DISORDER. During their song “Spit Vitriol,” SUICIDE SILENCE frontman Mitch Lucker joined in for added vocals.
According to THE RED CHORD‘s Twitter, the band is writing new songs and have found a drummer replacing Michael Justian who departed from in March 2011. Though no official word on who the drummer is has been released as of yet. THE RED CHORD‘s most recent release Fed Through the Teeth Machine, came out in 2009.

DEFILER is currently working on its Razor & Tie debut which will be released later this year. The band is self-producing with mixing duties being handled by Chris “Zeuss” Harris (Suicide Silence, Chelsea Grin, The Acacia Strain). The band is making a new track, “Lucky 38,” available now for preview below.
“Words cannot describe how excited I am about signing with Razor & Tie. I’ve always had massive respect for the label, because of the diverse roster and bands I love, and they’re just the greatest people ever,” explains lead singer Jake Pelzl. He continues, “I feel like the new album is a true showcase to what all of us can do as a band. We’re going further with the melody, the brutality; I’m playing around with lots of different lyrical ideas. I hope for it to really make an impression in the world of heavy music.”
DEFILER recently toured supporting Wayne Static and Polkadot Cadaver. The band will head out on the road in support of the new album this fall.

Pittsburgh’s KAMIKABE brings many new elements to the tech, death metal scene while still keeping power and extreme intensity. Aberration of Man combines the razor sharp instrumental technicality, with true, raw, organic heaviness. Fast paced, and technical guitar riffing together with an unexpected element of catchiness and groove that doesn’t allow the listener to get overloaded by a constant barrage of blast beats, and monotonous leads. Following a near month-long stretch of European live dates, currently underway, stoner metal icons SLEEP will play four special U.S. shows next month in Florida, Washington and California. The performances come in celebration of the epic deluxe reissue of Dopesmoker released via Southern Lord Recordings earlier this month. Entirely remastered from the original smoke-encrusted Ampex reels, the reissue features an unreleased live recording of one their greatest live performances — “Holy Mountain” from San Francisco’s I-Beam in 1994 — as well as a brand new artwork by long time SLEEP artist Arik Roper.

As part of the massive Southern Lord Label Tour set to tear through the country in the weeks ahead, the label showcase co-presented with Scion A/V metal will take place at The Glass House in Pomona, and will be the solitary manifestation of the entire tour to take place in Los Angeles County. The lineup for the show features all four core acts on the label tour — ENABLER, BURNING LOVE, MARTYRDÖD, and BLACK BREATH — in addition to a special headlining guest appearance by labelmates PELICAN.

A song from the upcoming MANTAS Death By Metal collection has been released online below. The track “Evil Dead” is taken from the band’s first ever 1984 demo, recorded in the basement of death metal legend, pioneer and groundbreaker Chuck Schuldiner.
Death By Metal is the next chapter in Relapse‘s DEATH reissue campaign, compiling Chuck Schuldiner‘s pre-DEATH material from his first band MANTAS into one deluxe collection containing the group’s first two demos and a rehearsal. This marks the first time these recordings have ever been officially collected into one fully authorized compilation and legitimately available since their original release as the Death By Metal demo tape (1984)! A trailer for this face-ripping collection is available for viewing below.
MANTAS‘ Death By Metal is set for a June 19th North American release date, June 22nd in Benelux / Germany , and June 25th in the UK and rest of Europe . The collection will be released as a CD, Limited Edition Deluxe 2CD, LP, Digital Download and a limited collector’s edition containing the Deluxe 2CD, LP on an exclusive color, exclusive Demo cover T-Shirt, and a reproduction of the original Death By Metal demo cassette! On July 2nd Las Vegas-based doom metal band DEMON LUNG will release their debut video for the song “Lament Code” off their self-released EP Pareidolia. The video will be directed by Dustin Mills, Director of independent horror/comedy The Puppet Monster Massacre. More on the video shoot, including a detailed making-of diary, coming soon.
The Norwegian black metal outfit KHONSU have announced their signing to Season of Mist. The band is the newest project from the Gronbech brothers (ex-Keep Of Kalessin). KHONSU‘s forthcoming debut album Anomalia blends rock, metal, and electronic elements.
Band founder, songwriter, and visionary S. Gronbech issued the following statement:
“I am very pleased to enter a collaboration with Season of Mist as I’ve always had a high opinion of them – something I believe the rest of the metal world does as well. I have been working on Khonsu’s debut album for some years now and I definitely think that Season of Mist is a great label to release it through. I am looking forward to joining the ranks with legends like Mayhem, Morbid Angel, SamaelL and many others”.
Those of you who attended this year’s edition of the Inferno Festival in Oslo, Norway have probably seen the band perform live as MERAH. However, due to the recent and sad events in France involving a terrorist named Mohammed Merah, the Grønbech brothers decided to change the band’s moniker to KHONSU.
With a little under a month left before the release of their highly anticipated new album Reign Supreme, DYING FETUS have unleashed another track from the album, to give fans just a little taste of what they can expect from Reign Supreme. AltPress.com the online home of Alternative Press Magazine is hosting an exclusive premiere of the song “From Womb to Waste“ here. Reign Supreme will be released June 19th on Relapse Records and is available for pre-order here.

Swedish apocalyptic death metallers DIABOLICAL are set to enter the studio to record their as-of-yet untitled fifth album. The band has already started pre-production and will begin recording in June. Comments guitarist Carl Stjärnlöv:
“We have more than enough material written and pre-produced already, and we are confident that this album will be a milestone for Diabolical as a band and for Metal as a genre.”
The recording will take place at infamous Necromorbus Studio facilities, with vocalist and guitarist Sverker Widgren producing again. A release date is yet to be announced. Adds Stjärnlöv:
“Time is never a parameter for us. What we do is beyond time and space.”
The band will post a series of video studio diaries as work on the album progresses. Episode 1 is below.
